EFFORTS AND ACHEIVEMENTS

 

Recent Achievement:

Ban of polythene bag usage in Rajasthan! This act was regularised in Rajasthan
state after PIL filed by the society in Rajasthan high court.

" RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT " has been used by the
society effectively to gather information on various projects of Urban Improvement
Trust,RUIDP,Municipality,and different Govt,Departments.It has been a very difficult
task to get relevant information because of indifferent attitude of officials,but
these difficulties have made us more determined to work for achievement of our
goals.A feather was added to our cap when :

* COMMISSIONER "FOR RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT" Rajasthan
in his judgment indicted senior Govt. Officials and ordered departmental action
for not revealing information asked by the society. The information made available
to us has been effectively used .

 

Renovation of Cremation Ground on Pushkar road was undertaken.

  • P I L was filed in local court on Noise Pollution,and the court ordered
    the local administration to take strict action on this issue.

  • The society opposed construction of Tunnel in Pushkar Valley. It was not
    needed and would have disturbed ecological balance in the area.

  • An ecological study on Pushkar Valley was done by Dr. K.C Sharma Prof.Environmental
    Studies,M D S university,Ajmer, and was submitted to the Govt . which accepted
    our thought and shelved the project.

  • Public Awareness Programmes are being done in different schools of the city
    since 2002 on Traffic Improvement,Pollution Control,Saving Water and Electricity,Health,Cleanliness
    in the city and Social Behaviour.

  • "Nukkad Natak" were done by N S S students indifferent places
    of the city on anti polythene.Harmful effects of Polythene were demonstrated
    through these Nukkad Natak's.

  • Recycled news paper bags were distributed to public free of cost,Our thanks
    to Punjab National Bank and N S S for extending help in this project.

  • A P I L was filed by Our Member and Advisor Sh.S.N Singh on our behalf,
    in Rajasthan high Court Jaipur against Govt. order of discontinuing free medicines
    to pensioners.The High Court ordered the Govt.to restore the facility.



  • "SWASTHYA DARPAN" a book on health awareness, various infections
    and diseases, their care and treatment. written and edited by our President
    Dr.Rajendra Tela was published in 2004.The book was distributed free of cost
    to libraries of schools and colleges in the state. It was very well acclaimed
    and Govt. of Rajasthan, purchased 300 copies for distribution to other libraries.New
    edition of the book is expected in 2009.

  • About 50000 Folders , Stickers and Posters on water

  • Conservation, pollution control, safeguarding environment,traffic rules
    and health awareness are being regularly distributed in the city.In collobration
    with Rajasthan Patrika,Punjab National Bank and Bharat Petroleum.

  • Two detailed reports on City Traffic Plan,New Roads and Railway requirements
    were sent to higher authorities of relevent departments.We are glad that many
    suggestions have been accepted and work is under progress.

  • The society has been regularly monitoring R U I D P Projects like construction
    of Over Bridges and Sewerage System for the city.,and are in regularly attending
    their meetings and giving suggestions from time to time.

  • Ajmer has regularly faced drinking water problem .Regular
    interruptions in water supply due to frequent breakage of Goyla -Nasirabad
    pipe line was a big problem .The matter was taken to higher authorities in
    Jaipur and problem was resolved and a new pipe line was laid.

  • Drawing and Painting Competition for school children was organized in Mayo
    College Ajmer on Environment.

  • An action plan was submitted to the administration and Archeological Department
    on preservation, upkeep and maintainance of the picturesque Baradari built
    by Shahjahan on the embankment of historical Ana SagarLake to make it a tourist
    delight.

  • Exhibition Gallery at Soochna Kendra was in a very bad state and artists
    of the city found it very discouraging to exhibit their creations.The matter
    was addressed to concerned departments and ultimately it took 4 years to get
    a sum of Rs.10 lacs sanctioned for renovation and repair of the gallery.

  • Plantation project have been taken from time to time in different areas
    of the city and tree guards provided to the members.

  • The Society was deeply concerned on increasing Pollution and illegal constructions
    in and around 6 lakes of Ajmer and their catchment areas.There is lot of sewerage
    flow in the lakes and water flow to the lakes has reduced by less than 60
    percent,water quality has become very poor,and as result Flora and Fauna in
    and around the lakes has been severely effected

  • P I L were filed in local court and Rajasthan High Court.

    The High Court has ordered to stop all constructions around the lakes and
    has asked the administration to draw an action plan for conservation of 6
    lakes of Ajmer.i.e.Pushkar,Anasagar,Budha Pushkar,Foy Sagar ,Beesla and Khanpura

  • A massive rally of about 9000 school children from 42 schools
    was held on 4th october 2008 around the Ana Sagar Lake.to draw public and
    Govt. attention f or preservation of lakes.Our thanks to media partners Dainik
    Bhaskar and Maya FM for their help.



    We are also thankful to the children for their enthusiasm and support along
    with Principals and Management of participating schools.

  • A signature campaign is being done to draw public and govt, attention on
    this issue.Signatures of about 150000 citizens are being taken and the same
    will be sent to the ChIef Minister of Rajasthan .



Celebrity film Actor Mr Nasiruddin shah , alongwith with his actress
wife


Ms Ratna Pathak and daughter Ms Heeba visited Ajmer and held a two and a half
hour show presenting three narrations of stories by famous urdu writer Ms. Ismat
Chugtai . To create public awareness to save the lakes of Ajmer Our heartfelt
gratitude to the Shah Family for supporting this cause It will be worthwile
to mention here
that Mr. Nasiruddin Shah did not charge any money for
all the effort and time spent for the noble cause.
